5 Signs of a Dying Car Battery

March 20, 2024

Vehicle batteries do not last for ever. Just like other batteries, they will slowly lose power as they are used and will often need to be replaced every few years. If you continue driving with a dead battery, you risk encountering a variety of electrical problems. Therefore, it's best to acquire a new vehicle battery at your local dealer as soon as you see any of the following indications or signs.

1. Slow engine crank and turnover

Are you attempting to get your engine to start but it continues to lag? If your battery is nearing the end of its useful life, you'll notice that your engine cranks slowly. As soon as you notice this typical symptom, take your vehicle to a nearby service shop.

2. Clicking while trying to start the vehicle

If you attempt to start your car and hear just a clicking sound instead of a cranking noise, your battery is dead. This clicking sound indicates that the battery is very low that nothing can be done.

3. Electrical features stop working

Battery-powered elements of your car are the first to fail working when the source of power is low. Taking your car in for a battery check could be a good idea if your radio, power seats, or windshield wipers aren't operating like they used to.

4. The headlights are dim

If you're driving about at night and notice that your headlights are a bit fuzzier than normal, it's likely that your battery is nearing the end of its life. If the headlights are not receiving enough electricity, they will not glow as brightly as they should.

5. Warning light is on

Many modern cars are equipped with technology that alerts you when your vehicle's battery is in need of a charge. It's advised to take your car to a nearby service shop if you notice the red battery-shaped indicator on your dashboard lighting up.

Professional Touch

Your vehicle's battery should be checked and replaced as part of your regular maintenance. If any of the warning indicators listed above apply to your vehicle, you foresee the need for a new battery.
